When the 15th and 30th of each month comes along, I am sure you don’t take 40 percent of your salary and toss it directly into the garbage, do you?  So then why do we think it’s okay to waste $31 billion in food every year when many go hungry?

According to a report published by Value Chain Management International, Canada is spending two percent of our annual GDP on food waste and the resources necessary to dispose of it.  That number is greater than the economic output of the poorest 29 countries in the world combined.

So, not only is throwing out food insensitive and a total waste of money, it is actually depleting our natural resources like land and water. Luckily, there are tons of easy ways you can do your part to produce less waste, and save some money while you do it.
