Here in Ontario, we’re privileged to have a bounty of fresh, locally-sourced products to choose from year-round. Eating sustainably not only tastes better, but it helps support local businesses and reduces our impact on the environment.

Feast On is a program that recognizes businesses that source Ontario-grown and made products and supports restaurants that source at least 25 percent of their food and beverages from Ontario. One of these restaurants is The Local Cafe and Restaurant at Centennial College’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts in Scarborough. The Local sources ingredients from Ontario to create fresh, seasonal meals in a market-style dining experience. The Local is also an Ocean Wise partner, so diners can rest assured they’re choosing ocean-friendly, sustainable seafood.

The café and restaurant sources and prepares fresh and local seasonal meals providing students a unique experiential learning opportunity. Working at The Local, students are exposed to a variety of Ontario-grown and made products and produce. A lot of the suppliers are small, family-run farms, meaning students can share the true farm-to-table story of each meal with restaurant patrons.

Visit The Local for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch seven days a week. Free parking is available for diners. Centennial’s Event Centre is also available for private functions and meetings.
